Adam's Story When I was four
years old my family started taking vacations to the
Caribbean. There I learned the fascinations of undersea
life. Back then I could only peer through a boogie board
with a glass window cut through it. When I was older I
learned to snorkel but it still wasn’t enough. My
parents were both scuba divers and they took me on some
trips so I could snorkel. I wanted to see what they were
seeing so when I was old enough, I took a scuba class.
For Christmas, my parents gave me the diving packet with
the book and all the information. In my first class we
learned about the parts of the scuba unit. In the first
pool session I finally got to take my first breath
underwater. This was amazing to me because now it seemed
I could stay underwater forever. After I passed my final
exam my family took our annual vacation, this time to
Belize where I would get my open water certification. I
was lucky because I got to do my open water dives on the
second largest barrier reef in the world. My parents and
I went out on a small boat with a man named Sylvan. When
we got to the bottom he had me demonstrate all the
things I learned in class. After four of these dives
over the course of two days I finally got my
certification.
Over the next week I dove with my parents every day.
Some of the fish I saw were amazing. Even the small
things on the reef were cool. As I get older I would
like to keep diving, try more dive sites and maybe even
make it a career.
"Kalipso
Dive had the opportunity to provide Adam with his
classroom and pool sessions. Adam was a great
student that was comfortable in every aspect of diving.
He was a pleasure to work with and we wish Adam a great
life experience in diving."
